Our aim? To reduce our plastic packaging as much as possible.
This year we are launching the Finestra For Future project, an initiative with two objectives: to help the planet by collaborating with different organisations that care for it, such as FAADA and Reforesta, and to reduce our plastic packaging as much as possible.
We have therefore started to replace plastic materials in our products with glass or compostable materials.
We want to be the change the planet needs
We have launched these new compostable containers with theRoyal Quinoa and Finestra Basics ranges. Two lines with a wide variety of products that are widely used in everyday life and which cause a large amount of plastic packaging waste.
With this measure we estimate that more than 4 tonnes of plastic waste will be eliminated in just one year.
Compostable packaging is made from vegetable raw materials and is able to return to nature in the form of compost, without toxic emissions and in only 180 days. Once the product is finished, it should be disposed of in the organic bin. These containers will be collected together with the organic waste and composted in an industrial composting plant to be used as a natural fertiliser. In this way the packaging returns to nature and closes its vital circle.
La Finestra sul Cielo's product department tells us that: 'The aim is to create more sustainable and planet-conscious products. For this reason, in addition to producing products with quality ingredients from organic farming and always 100% vegetable, we have set ourselves another challenge: to create packaging that is completely free of plastic to avoid generating more waste'.
Glass, another key part of our objective
In the case of glass, we are changing the packaging of liquid products such as sea water, bottled teas, etc. to recyclable glass containers. Glass has a great advantage: its main components come from nature, therefore, when recycled it can have infinite lives.
In Spain 7 out of 10 glass containers are recycled'.

In addition, this material does not interfere with the taste of food and is neutral, it does not allow the transfer of oxygen. Glass packaging is resistant to the aggression of substances and does not degrade the environment.
Recycling one kilo of glass produces one kilo of new glass. It can also be reused in many different ways or used to store things at home.
